Medieval Festival delivers added spectacle to Upper Canada Village

MORRISBURG — Upper Canada Village shifted half a millennia into the European past with the return of the annual Medieval Festival June 11-12.

Astride their heavy horses, knights in shining armour collided during authentic jousting matches, thrilling the crowds that turned out. The medieval encampment was a realm of weaponry demonstrations from the period. Archers, falconers, jesters, minstrels, a fire eater and a medieval marketplace added to the fun but informative spectacle, which also drew busloads of school children to the festival’s final day — Medieval Monday, Education Day.
