Health Unit issues heat advisory

Toiling through today's heat in excess of 30 ºC, a crew from North Dundas Township's recreation department was putting up new park signs in Chesterville's Community Park and Thompson Subdivision, as well as South Mountain.

CHESTERVILLE — With thermometers eclipsing 30 ºC, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit has issued a heat advisory.

Among other tips to avoid dehydration, the EOHU advises drinking plenty of cool liquids — before you feel thirsty — and rescheduling of outdoor activities to cooler parts of the day.

Humidity levels are making it feel closer to 40 ºC, according to a heat advisory issued by Environment Canada for south Ottawa.
