Action on display at Ingleside’s 10th annual Firefighters’ Games

INGLESIDE — More than 40 firefighters from around the area suited up for South Stormont’s 10th annual Firefighter Challenge in Ingleside.

Ten fire department teams participated in the brawny test of fitness by racing across a course in full gear to simulate the physical challenge of responding to a fire.

Hundreds of people watched the action from the sidelines in front of the Ingleside mall, where a large bouncy castle park was also set up for the enjoyment of youngsters. The day included special musical entertainment.

Spectators also witnessed the home relay team — the Ingleside station’s Dan Brisebois, Dylan Prendergast, Stacy Charlebois and Kevin Terhorst — capture the top trophy in that event.

In a poignant moment, the Women’s Charity Challenge hit the course to benefit South Stormont’s Christina Archambault, a young mother of two battling cancer.

The video below shows Newington Fire Chief Drew Cameron going head-to-head against Hawkesbury’s Marc Bellefeuille.
