MORRISBURG — The build-up to Morrisburg’s 46th annual Tubie Race continues.
The annual Tubies’ parade — themed ‘Tub-ie Young’ — hit the streets of the Seaway village today, one of the traditional highlights of the day before the big race. Another is the Tubie dance, running until midnight on the waterfront tonight.
While this year was supposed to see a junior version of the race on Saturday, that event was cancelled after drawing only two entries, one of which proved unable to float at the outset. So Sunday’s main event is the only opportunity to catch the spectacle of teams of paddlers aboard craft made of inner tubes. They disembark from Arlor Haven campground at noon and race 4 km downstream to finish at Morrisburg Beach.
