NORTH DUNDAS — A 17-year-old driver lost his licence as well as the vehicle he was driving for a week, after the SD&G OPP clocked the male teen doing double the speed limit  on County Rd. 43 this week.

The Edwardsburgh Township resident was travelling 160 km/h in an 80 km/h zone when officers intercepted him at 6:44 a.m. on Aug. 3. They seized his driver’s licence for seven days, on the spot, in addition to impounding the  vehicle for the same length of time, as per provincial policy.

Police say the driver was also charged accordingly. If found guilty, the young man faces thousands of dollars in fines and a lengthy driver’s licence suspension, under Ontario’s stunt driving law.
