CHESTERVILLE — The construction of a new apartment building is planned for Chesterville.

North Dundas Council formally agreed Aug. 9 to move forward on the rezoning application submitted by Ewen Campbell for a planned six-unit structure at 21 Francis Street, on the advice of Planning Director Calvin Pol.

A public meeting to consider the required zoning change — from R1 to R2 — is now set for Sept. 13. The subject property is currently occupied by a single detached dwelling, which would be torn down.

Pol’s written report to council notes the redevelopment represents the sort of “residential intensification” promoted by both Ontario’s provincial policy statement and the United Counties’ Official Place.

Double drive-through lanes for Tim Hortons at Pioneer Gas

WINCHESTER — North Dundas will get two more Tim Hortons drive-through lanes after Pioneer Gas completes the capital overhaul of its Winchester station.

The double-double development came to light at the Aug. 9 council meeting when Planning Director Calvin Pol revealed the Pioneer project would see not one but two lanes installed for a satellite Tim Hortons outlet at the County Rd. 31 station. Work is slated to begin next month, following council’s approval of the suitably tweaked site plan control agreement.

The site is just up the road from Winchester’s main Tim Hortons restaurant, where existing drive-through lanes are often full of motorists lined up for a caffeine fix.
