OTTAWA — Crysler’s Pierre Thibault is Hometown Hero number six, the Ottawa Senators announced last night on the final stop of their third annual Hometown Tour series.

Spearheading major improvements at the Crysler Community Centre and surrounding John Crysler Park over the years, Thibault is among a half dozen local people honored by the team as the Aug. 22-31 tour of 12 Canadian Tire stores rolled to a close.

The first five Hometown Heroes — four South Dundas lifeguards and a Cornwall police officer — received the recognition during the tour’s Morrisburg stop earlier this week. Thibault got his in Kanata, Aug. 31.

While the honour was “cool,” all of the volunteers in Crysler should have been nominated, he told Nation Valley News.  “They are the real heroes here; without their help nothing would have been done.”

Thibault also appeared on the CTV News supper hour broadcast, interviewed by sportscaster Terry Marcotte.

Each Hometown Hero gets a pair of tickets to a Senators pre-season game as well as in-game recognition from the fans at Canadian Tire Centre.
