SOUTH STORMONT — A 20-year-old Markham, Ont., man immediately lost his licence and car for seven days as he blew through South Stormont on Highway 401.
An SD&G OPP officer stopped the vehicle doing 178 km/h at 3:19 p.m. on Friday afternoon, Sept. 16 — well above the threshold for the Highway Traffic Act’s stunt-driving provisions.
In addition to the seven-day seizure of the car and his driver’s permit, the man was charged accordingly.
No wheels for the trip back to Montreal
SOUTH GLENGARRY — A 23-year-old Montreal, Que., man immediately lost his licence and car for seven days after an SD&G OPP police officer clocked him at 113 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Sept. 19.
The motorist, who was stopped at 2:42 p.m. on County Rd. 2 in South Glengarry, was also charged accordingly.
Domestic situation — Manning Rd.
SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers responded Sept. 16 to a reported domestic situation at a residence on Manning Road, South Stormont Township. Their investigation revealed an altercation between an adult female and her boyfriend “resulted in the male assaulting the female,” according to police.
A 27-year-old man from South Stormont Township was arrested and charged with assault.
The accused was released and scheduled to appear Oct. 4 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Domestic situation — North Dundas
NORTH DUNDAS — SD&G OPP officers responded around 1 p.m. to a reported Sept. 18 domestic situation in North Dundas Township. Their investigation revealed an adult male was in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.
A 37-year-old North Dundas man was arrested and charged with: Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
Impaired charge
NORTH DUNDAS — The SD&G OPP say they intercepted an impaired driver in North Dundas on Sept. 17.
Officers stopped the vehicle at 3:26 p.m. According to police, Daniel Vanderveen, 56, of North Dundas is charged with: Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood; Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired.
The accused was released and scheduled to appear Oct. 11 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg.
