Business Retention and Expansion Program rolling out in North Grenville

NORTH GRENVILLE — The Municipality of North Grenville plans to roll out a Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Program to its local business community over 2016-2017.

Funded in part by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, the effort has seen the hiring Kevin O’Dair in a contract position as BR+E Project Coordinator.

The municipality says it will work on the project with the Old Town Kemptville Business Improvement Area, the North Grenville Chamber of Commerce and other partners.

BR+E is a community-based, action-oriented and volunteer-driven economic tool to encourage the growth and stability of local business. BR+E promotes a welcoming business environment and the creation of new jobs and the retention of existing ones. The program is touted for helping communities identify issues and opportunities facing local businesses.

Last completing a BR+E process in 2010, the municipality promises opportunity for the community to volunteer in various capacities as the current one gets underway.
