Robbery leaves one man with minor injury

WINCHESTER— On Wednesday, Nov. 2, at approximately 3:15 p.m., SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an armed robbery occurring outside of the RBC Royal Bank in Winchester.

Officers on scene were advised that the male victim was in the parking lot of the RBC Royal Bank and was approached by an unknown male, who brandished a weapon and demanded money.  The suspect struck the victim causing a minor injury and an undisclosed amount of money was provided to the suspect who then fled the area on foot.

No suspect description is available at this time, according to police.

Winchester Public School was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdown has since been lifted.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and an update will be issued when accurate and confirmed information becomes available.

Assisting with the investigation is the OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Forensic Identification Services and the SD&G Crime Unit.
