Teen charged in mugging outside Winchester RBC

WINCHESTER The SD&G OPP have charged a 16-year-old male youth in connection with last week’s mugging outside the RBC branch in Winchester.

The teen, from North Dundas, has not been named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He is charged with: Robbery Using a Firearm;  Disguise With Intent; Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose; and Assault

On Nov. 2,  at approximately 3:15pm, SD&G OPP officers, with the assistance of OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the SD&G Crime Unit responded to a report of an armed robbery occurring outside the RBC Royal Bank in the Village of Winchester, North Dundas Township. Their investigation indicated a male victim was confronted by an unknown assailant who brandished a weapon and demanded money.  The suspect struck the victim, causing minor injuries. An undisclosed amount of money was taken by the suspect who fled the area on foot.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
