WINCHESTER — Winchester Foodland owner Dan Pettigrew says he’s “thrilled” with the ongoing progress at the revamped 12015 Main Street store location in the lead-up to its planned official opening on Friday, Nov. 18.
Pettigrew responded in the affirmative today when asked to confirm the ribbon-cutting invitation date sent to Nation Valley News by Sobeys Inc. last Friday afternoon (Nov. 4).
Sobeys operates as ‘Foodland’ in smaller communities. Its ongoing Winchester project involves relocating the current Foodland outlet from 512 Main Street to much larger digs just up the street near County Rd. 31. Purchased from the Dean family last year, the new site has sat empty for months while undergoing renovations.
The official opening event on the 18th will take place 15 minutes before the doors open to the public at 9 a.m. The occasion is slated to include a $1,000 donation to the Dundas County Food Bank.
