CORNWALL — The Seaway Valley Rapids have emerged as champions from the 2016 “Pete Mancuso Challenge” tournament.
The Cornwall based team travelled last weekend to Niagara Falls to face off against five other Minor Peewee AA teams from the greater Toronto and Niagara peninsula areas. The Rapids, a hockey club filled with talented 11-to-12-year-old players, dominated all of their adversaries from the first game — a 13-2 victory over the Orangeville Flyers.
On Sunday, Nov. 6, coach Angelo Sanservino’s young players captured the championship with a convincing 3-0 shutout against the Don Mills Mustangs in the final.
