WINCHESTER — It was all smiles as Dr. G.E. Carlin Family & General Dentistry officially showed off their rebuilt facility, four years after fire razed the 539 St. Lawrence Street location.
Friendly staff welcomed visitors to the newly reconstructed dental clinic, happily touring them around the place during the Nov. 12 open house.
Carlin and his colleagues actually moved in this past June, while the building underwent “finishing touches” over the last few months, the doctor said.
It’s been a long journey since the Sept. 27, 2012 fire forced the operation into temporary digs on County Rd. 31. Groundbreaking on the new clinic finally occurred a year ago.
The new structure has approximately the same footprint as the old building, except its two stories of useable space starts with the basement. The previous building, a converted feed mill, had a regular upstairs-downstairs configuration and old-fashioned cellar, recalled Sandra Carlin, office manager. The old structure did have some additional storage space that was not replaced, she added.
The bright and airy new building features six chairs. Two dentists — Dr. Carlin and Dr. Leila Okhravi — work with several dental hygienists and assistants while serving the practice’s clientele.
