GLEN WALTER — The SD&G OPP continue to investigate a multiple vehicle collision on County Rd. 2 that claimed the life of a young man and put two other people in hospital with life-threatening injuries yesterday morning (Nov. 30).
Local people on Facebook are expressing their shock and condolences to the family of Kyle Quesnel, 20, and recounting stories about the football and hockey athlete from Cornwall. Police confirmed his identity this morning (Dec. 1).
Police say Quesnel was a passenger in a 2010 Honda Civic that was eastbound near Purcell Rd., around 11:30 a.m., when for reasons still under investigation, the 20-year-old male driver from South Stormont lost control, colliding with a westbound 2015 Dodge van, driven by a lone 61-year-old female from South Glengarry.
The driver of the Honda and another passenger from that vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van received non-life threatening injuries.
A third vehicle — a pick-up and trailer — was involved but made minor contact after the fact — no injuries resulted.
Conditions were generally foggy across the region that morning, but police have not said anything about that at this point.
A section of County Road 2, between Gilmour Road and Purcell Road, was closed to traffic for almost 12 hours.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting SD&G OPP with the investigation.
