GLEN WALTER – The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision yesterday in South Glengarry has died.

The SD&G OPP have confirmed that Jeffery Dobson, 20, of South Stormont Township succumbed to his injuries in hospital today (Dec. 1) — the second young man to lose his life in the crash.

Police say Dobson was at the wheel of an eastbound 2010 Honda Civic on County Rd. 2, around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 30. For reasons still under investigation, the car — carrying three people including the driver — collided near Purcell Rd. with a westbound 2015 Dodge van, driven by a lone 61-year-old female from South Glengarry.

All three occupants of the Honda were transported to hospital, where Kyle Quesnel, also 20, was pronounced dead yesterday. A 19-year-old woman remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van received injuries police describe as non-life-threatening.

A third vehicle  — a pickup and trailer — was involved but made minor contact after the fact — with no injuries resulting.

Speed and the use of seatbelts are being considered as factors at this point, according to police.

A section of County Road 2, between Gilmour and Purcell roads, was closed to traffic for almost 12 hours.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are assisting SD&G OPP with the investigation.
