CHESTERVILLE — Environment Canada continues to advise that there is a travel advisory this evening (Dec. 11) through Monday morning, with 10 to 15 cm of snow expected in the region by midday tomorrow (Dec. 12).
Be prepared for winter travel conditions tonight and Monday morning.
The advisory applies to the Cornwall and United Counties SDG area, as well as Prescott and Russell counties, Ottawa and beyond through most of Eastern Ontario.Light snow has developed across the region and will become somewhat heavier this evening, says the agency, which has also issued an outright warning of “significant” snowfall further to the west and through Southern Ontario.
Environment Canada attributes the snowfall to a developing low pressure area, currently over northern Illinois, which is tapping moisture from
the Gulf of Mexico. It will track across the Great Lakes later tonight before heading into New England on Monday.
