Dual domestic situations occupy police in Stormont

NORTH STORMONT – SD&G OPP officers responded to a reported domestic situation Jan. 15 at a North Stormont residence on Macmillan’s Corners Rd., leading to charges of mischief and break and enter against a 23-year-old man from the other side of the township line.

Police were called to the address at 1:24 p.m. They allege the man, from South Stormont, had entered and damaged the home.

He was arrested and released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on Feb. 17.

The accused’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victims.

 

SOUTH STORMONT — A reported domestic situation at a South Stormont residence drew the attention of SD&G OPP officers who were called Jan. 15 to the County Rd. 18 address just after 6 a.m.

A 29-year-old man from the other side of the township line faces two counts of assault, one count of breaching recognizance and two counts of breaching probation, as a result of the ensuing investigation.

Police concluded the man, from North Stormont, had assaulted his female common-law spouse after they got into an altercation. He was also found to be in contravention of conditions imposed from a previous incident.

The accused was held in custody pending a Cornwall bail hearing. His name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
