Third annual Dundas Farmers Charity Gala set for March 25 in Winchester

First inductees into new Dundas Agricultural Hall of Fame

WINCHESTER — The ‘Dundas Agricultural Community’ has teamed up to give back to the community again with a third annual Dundas Farmers Charity Gala event – this one themed around Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Members of the Dundas Federation of Agriculture, Chesterville & District Agricultural Society, Dundas Dairy Producers, Dundas Beef Farmers, Dundas Junior Farmers, Dundas Soil & Crop Improvement Association and Dundas 4-H are joining forces for the March 25 evening at the Joel Steele Community Centre.  Fun and fundraising are on the agenda for the participating farmers and other fans of agriculture.

In keeping with the Gala’s sesquicentennial theme, organizers plan to celebrate, recognize and honour individuals that have made a significant contribution to Dundas County agriculture and the rural community through the years. They will be the first inductees into the new Dundas Agricultural Hall of Fame.

Beyond that evening’s ceremony, inductees will be recognized virtually on the Agricultural Hall of Fame page to be located on the Dundas Federation of Agriculture website until a permanent location can be determined.

The event will also feature dinner by AJ’s catering (with gluten-free option), along with live and silent auctions. Tickets are $30 per person and groups are encouraged to purchase a table of 10 seats where family members, friends, businesses or organizations can gather together to celebrate the inductees while giving back to the community and celebrating Canada’s 150th.

Proceeds raised will support Community Food Share (formerly known as the Dundas County Food Bank) and other charities in the county relying on community donations to meet their needs.
