Man charged in connection with North Dundas break-in; drugs, weapons seized in Avonmore

NORTH DUNDAS — A North Dundas man faces charges in connection with a break-in at a County Rd. 43 residence.

SD&G OPP officers responded to the address just after 9 a.m. on Jan. 25.

According to police, the ensuing investigation identified a male suspect who had entered the home. The arrested individual was also found to be in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incidents.

Kirk Stewart, 37, of North Dundas, is charged with: Break, Enter a Dwelling House; and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

Drugs and weapons seized

NORTH STORMONT — Police seized quantities of suspected cocaine and Xanax pills and an air pistol from a vehicle intercepted on Main Street, Avonmore, on Jan. 25, leading to several charges against a 25-year-old resident of the village.

The SD&G OPP say that officers discovered the items after stopping the vehicle around 6 p.m. With the assistance of SD&G OPP Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, further investigation led to the execution of a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a Main Street dwelling owned by the arrested motorist.

There, according to police, officers seized ammunition, brass knuckles and quantities of suspected marijuana and Acetaminophen pills.

Giovanni Roussel, 25, is charged with: three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm; Possession of Ammunition; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon; and three counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
