Drugs seized in S. Dundas traffic stop; mischief in N. Stormont; thieves target S. Stormont garage

SOUTH DUNDAS — Suspected illegal drugs turned up when members of the OPP Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) intercepted a vehicle Jan. 26 on Carman Road, South Dundas.

Seized in the 12:37 p.m. stop were quantities of suspected cocaine and marijuana as well as assorted drug paraphernalia.

The male driver, Chad Welsh, 24, of South Dundas, was arrested and is charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking; Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

The accused, who was released, has a March 24 court date in Brockville.


NORTH STORMONT — A 31-year-old North Stormont man faces a charge of mischief under $5,000 in connection with damage sustained to a parked vehicle.

The SD&G OPP say they responded at approximately 6:10 a.m. to the address on Valley Street where an adult male was arrested for damaging the windshield of the unattended vehicle.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on Feb. 28. Because the incident is considered domestic-related, police have withheld his name to protect the identity of the victim.


SOUTH STORMONT — The SD&G OPP report a break-in at a garage on Myers Rd., South Stormont.

Between Jan. 20-29, somebody forcibly entered the structure and removed a Miller Model 140 welder, a torch and tank set, and two Dewalt cordless impact guns.

An investigation continues.
