Dispatch shifts to Cornwall in North Stormont

BERWICK — Dispatch calls for the North Stormont Fire Service are now being handled out of Cornwall.

The Township of North Stormont this week announced the shift away from the previous fire dispatch service based in Hawkesbury.

The township is one of four municipalities recently moving fire dispatch over to Cornwall. North Stormont says that service remains the same — only the provider has changed.

For residents, it makes no difference in how they summon help to a fire. Call 9-1-1 as usual for all emergency calls, including fire.

North Stormont Fire Chief Daniel Gauvin notes that although there were initial challenges in the transition, staff from Cornwall Dispatch have been “amazing to work with.”

“I am looking forward to the future with Cornwall Dispatch and their great team of professionals,” says Gauvin, who further notes the  “switch will bring good communications and a sense of professionalism to our Fire Service.”

Monitoring companies in North Stormont and North Glengarry should note that their dispatch contact number has changed as a result of the switch. Those firms now need to call 613-932-2110, ext. 3. Contact your monitoring company to update this number.
