WINCHESTER — A 57-year-old motorist from Russell died today in a vehicle rollover on County Rd. 3, near North Wing Road, just north of Winchester.

The SD&G OPP say that Louise Hoogsteen, 57, was southbound when she lost control of the Dodge pickup truck for reasons still under investigation. Officers responded to the call at 10:09 a.m.

Several Chesterville firefighters hurried out of their breakfast event at the village’s winter carnival this morning, in response to the call. The Morewood Fire Department also attended the scene for extrication purposes.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, Hoogsteen was taken to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

A damaged blue or turquoise pickup truck was hauled away from the scene, aboard a flatbed vehicle carrier, a few minutes before 2 p.m., and SD&G OPP officers reopened a closed section of County Rd. 3 shortly thereafter. Traffic had been rerouted for a few hours around the stretch between North Wing and South Wing roads.
