SOUTH DUNDAS — A wanted man attempted to run away from police after an SD&G OPP officer pulled him over yesterday for driving with expired licence plates.

Police say the motorist gave the officer false identification, then took off on foot during the 4:50 p.m. traffic stop at a County Rd. 31 property. He didn’t get far, however, and was arrested a short distance away. It turned out the man was wanted by the Ottawa Police Service.

Eric Larocque, 28, of no fixed address is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer; Escape Lawful Custody; and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
