CHESTERVILLE — Rarely seen in life, the carcass of an elusive fisher — or what appears to be a fisher — has turned up on Boyne Rd. in the Township of North Dundas.
The Nation Valley News editor happened upon the recent road-kill, just west of the County Rd. 7 intersection this evening (March 3), and stopped to get a closer look at the unusual discovery.
The deceased animal was about twice the size of a house cat, with impressive claws and large robust head. At first glance from behind the wheel, it could have been mistaken for a small bear cub or dog.
The same municipality officially blamed a member of the predatory species in the death of a 200-lb bull calf last year.
