OTTAWA — The Ottawa Valley Farm Show’s 90th annual edition concludes today with its traditional highlight closing event: The Pedigreed Seed Sale.
Set for noon at the Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association’s flagship ‘Court of Honour’ display area, the sale has to date raised more than $130,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
The sale will also feature a special edition quilt created by local volunteers for this year’s 90th show.
Yesterday, the Court of Honour was abuzz with the annual awards handed out for the regions best seed and forage crops, in both regular and 4-H classes. Bruce Porteous of North Dundas captured the Champion 4-H Exhibitor plaque. (See the results embedded below).
In addition to the multitude of commercial enterprises in the main show area and the historical displays off the main lobby, check out the live music and step-dancing in Hall A today (March 16). The show runs until the doors close at 4 p.m. today; the organizers make a point of ensuring that no vendors pack up and leave before closing time.
