Assault and mischief

SOUTH STORMONT — Violence yesterday at a Long Sault business has led to charges for two South Dundas men in their twenties.

Dillon Shaver, 24, and Jordan Turner, 25, both face two counts of assault and one count of mischief after the March 20 incident, according to police.

Two adult males struck another man and a woman and also caused damage to the Long Sault Drive establishment, say the SD&G OPP whose officers responded to the reported disturbance around 5:20 p.m.

Both accused were released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 25.

SOUTH DUNDAS — A motorist on County Rd. 2 was picked up March 17 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The SD&G OPP say they intercepted the vehicle at 10:02 p.m., arresting Cole Merkley, 20, of North Dundas.

According to police, he’s charged with: Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood; and Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on March 28.

Criminal harassment, assault

SOUTH DUNDASA 24-year-old South Stormont man stands accused of assaulting and criminally harassing his ex-girlfriend.

The accusations follow a police investigation launched when SD&G OPP officers responded March 13 to a reported 9:43 a.m. domestic situation at a High Street residence in South Dundas. Police say the man repeatedly communicated electronically with his ex-girlfriend and, in 2016, assaulted her.

He was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall court. His name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
