Impaired driver

SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers responded to a March 25 report of a vehicle being driven erratically on County Rd. 12, South Stormont Township.

They intercepted the vehicle after 11 a.m. and determined the adult male driver to be under the influence of alcohol.

Donald Gibbons, 51,  of South Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with: Driving a Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood; and Driving While Disqualified.

The accused was released and scheduled to appear at the court in Cornwall on April 25.

 

Domestic situations on Highway 138

SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers dealt with a pair of domestic situations on Highway 138 in South Stormont, occurring minutes apart on March 24.

The first involved an altercation between an adult male and his girlfriend, resulting in the male assaulting the female and causing damage within the home, according to police. That one was called in just after 6 p.m.

A 25-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested and is charged with: Assault – Spousal; and Mischief Under $5,000 – Domestic. He was was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 18.

The second incident saw officers respond just after 6:30 p.m., where an altercation between an adult female and her ex-spouse led to him being assaulted.

A 28-year-old woman from South Stormont was arrested and is charged with Assault – Spousal. She was released and is scheduled to appear at the court of in Cornwall on April 18.

In both instances, the name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Domestic situation, North Stormont

NORTH STORMONT — A man and a woman both faces charges after their domestic altercation came to the attention of the SD&G OPP on March 26.

Officers responded just after 11 p.m. to the Henry St. residence in North Stormont.

Police say an adult male and his ex-girlfriend assaulted each other and caused damage within the home.

The 30-year-old male from North Stormont and the 23-year-old female from South Dundas were arrested. Each is charged with Assault – Spousal and Mischief Under $5,000 – Domestic.

The woman also faces two counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking.

Both were released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 18. Names are being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.

 

Marijuana seized from motorists

NORTH DUNDAS — Two men were arrested and face charges after an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on St. Lawrence St., Winchester, on March 24.

The 2:21 p.m. stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marijuana, according to police.

The driver, Joseph Gillmor, 27, of South Dundas, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, as is the passenger, James Ellis, 29, of Cardinal. Ellis is also charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Both accused were released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on May 2.

 

SOUTH STORMONT — An OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a vehicle on County Rd. 12, South Stormont, on March 25. The 9:44 a.m. stop led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Andre Valade, 34, of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 25.

 

NORTH GLENGARRY — An SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on County Rd. 30, North Glengarry, on March 25. The 1:41 p.m. stop led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana.

The male driver, Martin Desjardins, 31, of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on May 3.

 

Breach of conditions

SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers arrested a woman at a Kittle Rd. address on March 24. This followed a 10:35 a.m. report of an adult female breaching conditions (non-communication, notify change of address) stemming from a previous incident.

Melissa Wade, 35, of North Dundas Township, is charged with three counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance.  She was released and is scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on April 4.

 

Impaired driver

SOUTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers responded March 27 to a vehicle striking a building at a Moulinette Rd. property in South Stormont.

The adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol, according to police. Officers responded to the call just after 9 p.m.

Cameron Pyke, 47, of Cornwall,was arrested and is charged with: Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired; and Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 11.

 

Disqualified driver

SOUTH STORMONT — An OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer intercepted a disqualified driver who happened to be using a handheld device and had a warrant out for his arrest.

The stop took place just after 4 p.m. on Highway 138 on March 27.

A 41-year-old South Stormont man was arrested and is charged with and Driving While Disqualified; and Drive Motor Vehicle on a Highway using Hand-held Device. He’s scheduled to appear April 25 in Cornwall court on those charges.

The unnamed accused is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on April 25. He was also turned over to Cornwall Police for follow-up in their investigation.

 

Theft of tires

NORTH GLENGARRY — Between March 24-27, four tires and rims (five-stud, 15-inch variety) were stolen from camping trailers stored at at County Rd. 34 property in North Glengarry.

The investigation continues.
