Final precursor to South Dundas Spring Home and Trade Show

MORRISBURG — Tonight’s annual general meeting of the South Dundas Chamber of Commerce at Upper Canada Playhouse features Canadian Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President Warren Everson.

The keynote speaker served as the Vice President for Policy and Strategic Planning for the Air Transport Association of Canada during a pivotal time — the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. and the outbreak of SARS in Canada. He was also a high level executive for a number of other bureaucracies within the public sector. His speech will cover the very topical subject of Canada’s borders with the United States. It’s titled, “The borders between our countries are meeting places not dividing lines.”

The April 5 AGM session starts at 6 p.m.

Spring Home and Trade Show

The local Chamber’s AGM is a precursor to the upcoming annual South Dundas Spring Home and Trade Show April 21-22 at the Morrisburg Arena.

That trade show will feature a new display by Erin Schuler-VanGilst’s landscaping company — Created:Garden Design and Installation. The Morrisburg Arena entrance will also be different than in previous years.  Relocated to the west side of the arena, visitors will enter through a climate-controlled tent also serving as a new stage area for events and demonstrations to take place. Be sure to check out the various live demos including; cooking, a simulation put on by the Morrisburg Fire Department, and an at-home test for hearing aids. There will be a “big variety of exhibitors which I’m really happy about,” says Geraldine Fitzsimmons, General Manager of the South Dundas Chamber of Commerce.

Admission is free and there will be plenty of door prizes, she says.
