April; a ‘comical’ month at SD&G libraries

SD&GApril is Graphic Novel Month at the SD&G County Library

Whether you’re already a fan, or thinking about picking up your first one, April is the perfect month for reading graphic novels. All this month, the SD&G County Library is showcasing its collection of graphic novels and comics by celebrating April as Graphic Novel Month.

Each branch of the library is celebrating graphic novels in their own way – they’ll have displays, contests, programs and more. Drop by any of their 15 branches and you’ll see a different collection for children, teens and adults, as well as different activities to celebrate.

The popularity of graphic novels continues to grow and the library is responding by adding to their collection. “Our children and teens’ graphic novel collections circulate extremely well” says David Brush, Systems Support Coordinator and the staff member responsible for selecting graphic novels. “We are working on building awareness of our adult collection and our annual celebration of Graphic Novel Month is a great way to highlight what we have to offer.”

There is a wide variety of topics and genres covered in the library’s collection, meaning there truly is something for everyone. And, if you’re not sure where to start, the staff would be happy to help you!

Don’t forget, if you’re heading to the Cornwall & Area Pop Event (CAPE) on April 22-23, be sure to stop by the library booth for a first-hand look at some of the collection.
