MOREWOOD — A 25-year-old Cornwall man has been charged with a sexual assault in Morewood.
SD&G OPP officers arrested the man April 7 after responding to a residence in the hamlet at 11:42 p.m.
Their investigation indicated a male had sexually assaulted an adult female known to him.
The accused was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on May 23. His name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Extortion charge in Winchester
WINCHESTER — A 47-year-old North Dundas man has been charged with extortion after requesting a personal favour from a woman in return for money owing, according to police.
The SD&G OPP arrested the man April 8 after learning of the alleged incident while investigating an April 7 domestic situation at a Winchester residence.
The accused was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on May 2. His name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Threats, unlawful possession of firearm
ALEXANDRIA —SD&G OPP officers responded to a reported domestic situation in Alexandria on April 7, leading to weapons-related and other charges for a 50-year-old man.
Called to the scene before 6 p.m., officers concluded an adult male had threatened his ex-girlfriend in the incident. Police executed a warrant the following day at the man’s Alexandria residence, where they located a firearm, ammunition and knife in the home. The accused was under conditions imposed from a previous incident not to be in possession of such items, according to police, who arrested the man.
Held in custody pending a court appearance in Cornwall, he’s charged with: uttering threats; possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; and knowledge of an unauthorized possession of weapon. His name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
