Head-on collision between transport, passenger vehicle closes part of Hwy. 138

NORTH STORMONT — SD&G OPP officers are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision — a passenger vehicle and a transport truck — on Highway 138, north of Sand Road.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., according to police, the smaller southbound vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the truck.

The lone male driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The truck driver, also alone in his vehicle, was not injured.

As the investigation continues, a section of Highway 138 between County Roads 43 (Monkland) and 15 (Moose Creek) is closed to traffic with indicated detours in place.

Update: Police have announced that the lone 27-year-old male driver, from Ottawa, remains in hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. The uninjured trucker driver is 37 and from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que.

Hghway 138 remained closed until 8 p.m. last night.
