Property standards to be a focus of by-law compliance effort
WINCHESTER — Brent Mattice is back.
The retired Ontario Provincial Police sergeant has accepted a temporary position with the Township of North Dundas as a By-law Enforcement Officer, the municipality officially announced today.
“We are very lucky to have someone, as respected as Brent, join our team for the next while” said Mayor Eric Duncan. “Council and staff know that we need to step up our by-law enforcement, particularly in property standards. Brent will help us modernize and get a program established that can truly made an improvement in this regard. We are excited about this move forward to bring his experience and reputation to North Dundas.”
Mattice joins the Township of North Dundas after a successful 30 year career with the OPP. He also worked for the Municipality of South Dundas in a similar by-law enforcement capacity.
The officer will work part-time on contract over the next couple of years to modernize property standards and other by-law enforcement tools, and assist with an increased response and presence in the municipality.
“The process regarding property standards and other by-laws may be challenging and time consuming through the court system, but residents have told us they want more action on by-law files. With Brent joining our team, we feel this is a good step in the right direction.”
