CHESTERVILLE — It takes real courage to be able to stand up in front of a crowd and speak about something, and these students did just that. Seven talented students from Grades 4, 5 and 6 were chosen by their teachers and peers to present their speeches in front of the school in the gym last Friday. The top speech was given by Caleb Thompson, Grade 6, who spoke about astrology, second place was Olivia Pereira, Grade 6, who delivered a presentation on Apollo and Artemis, and an honourable mention was awarded to Grade 4 student Maria Thompson for her speech on swimming.

As part of Catholic Education Week, the speeches are a highlight annually to promote the Catholic school system within the area. This year’s theme was “Walking forward together”, said school principal Karen Carriere. “This is part of bringing our community together to celebrate the gift of public speaking, “ she added.

Congratulations to all the participants and good luck to those moving on to regionals.
