Man breaches probation by stealing ferret

NORTH GLENGARRY — SD&G OPP officers responded to an incident on May 11, where a ferret was reported stolen from a pet store at 6:52 p.m. on Massie Crescent in Alexandria. Investigation indicated that the animal had been taken by an adult male while in the store.

Matthew MacDonald, 29, of Alexandria, Ontario was arrested and is charged with: theft under $5000; possession of property obtained by crime; and failure to comply with probation order.

He was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall court.

The pet was recovered and returned to the store.
