Men charged after tailgate swiped

SOUTH DUNDAS — Two men have been charged after a truck tailgate was stolen from a vehicle parked at a South Dundas residence.

SD&G OPP officers responded May 12 to the reported theft on Louden Drive.

Police say they arrested Anthony Levere, 31, of North Dundas, and Alexander McLaughlin, 25, of Cardinal. Both have been charged with Possession of Property obtained by crime.

Levere also faces charges of: Theft – Under $5,000 and Trafficking in Stolen Goods.

The accused were released to appear June 6 in Morrisburg court.

Super speeders

SOUTH DUNDAS —SD&G OPP officers intercepted a couple of Highway 401 super speeders on May 24. The apprehended pair exceeded the speed limit by more than 50 km/h, triggering on-the-spot penalties under Ontario’s stunt driving law: Officers impounded the involved vehicles and seized the drivers’ licences for seven days.

A 47-year-old man from Brampton and a 27-year-old man from Toronto respectively clocked in at 156 km/h and 171 km/h that morning.
