Winchester Open Mic Night to take a summer vacation of its own

OPEN MIC GOES ON HOLIDAYS

WINCHESTER — After nearly five years of weekly coffeehouses featuring local musicians and authors, Winchester Open Mic Night will be taking a much needed summer vacation. Organizer Ann Brady, who runs the program for the North Dundas Arts Council, says she’ll miss the music but enjoy the holiday.

“A lot of work goes into running a weekly coffeehouse, and with the Music in the Park event expected to return to Sweet Corner Park on Thursdays, we’re going to take a break and let them do the honours for the summer months!”

Brady adds that the always popular “Winchester Open Mic Night: Dairyfest Edition” show will take place Friday, August 11 at 7 p.m. at the Old Town Hall. “This year, we’re going full-tilt country with a cowgirl and cowboy themed show that people are going to love!” she says. Open Mic Night will return to its regular weekly schedule after the Labour Day weekend, on Thursday, September 7.
