CHESTERVILLE — This village’s latest touch of beautification sprouted from 15 poles this morning.
Commissioned by the Chesterville Rotary Club, the new decorative maple leaves were manufactured by Duane and Kent Young of Industrial Stainless on Joseph Street. Paul Fournier of Countryman Electric quickly installed the units into existing brackets that previously held the village’s LED snowflakes — another Rotary project that debuted last winter. Painted red over steel, the new pieces feature a dual leaf design, one in relief, the other in outline.
Helping out Fournier and Club president Joe Cass as the bucket truck moved from pole to pole was project spearhead Betty Vanden Bosch. She acknowledged Duane Young for hurriedly assembling an extra bracket to ensure the 15th leaf could go up on a pole that lacked the mounting hardware.
The improvement comes just as the village prepares to host its seventh annual Art on the Waterfront.
