Rockland police search for unidentified male last seen in stolen boat

ROCKLAND —  Russell County OPP, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Aviation Services are still in search of an unidentified male and are looking for the public’s help.

He was first seen at 4:20 p.m. yesterday drifting in an aluminum boat from the Ottawa River shoreline after exiting the Rockland ferry.

As the boat began to drift, he was seen standing up and paddling the boat along the shore.

Police recovered the boat — which turned out to be stolen — on Parker Island with a bicycle and bag in it, which police believe belonged to the now-missing male.

OPP Canine and ERT members conducted a thorough search of the island and surrounding area and were still unable to locate him.

As of last night, OPP Aviation services was searching the area.

The unidentified male is described as wearing a camouflage jacket, with shoulder length brown hair, approximately 5’8” – 5’10” with a slim to medium build.
