SOUTH DUNDAS — Police say a vehicle purposely avoided a RIDE check stop June 2, escalating the situation for the male driver whose vehicle lacked a currently valid plate.
SD&G OPP officers saw the vehicle approach — then avoid and flee the County Rd. 2 check stop, just before 10 a.m.
The vehicle pulled over on Merkley Road, where the man got out and fled on foot, according to police. Officers arrested him a short distance away.
South Dundas resident Kyle Summers, 34, is charged with: Fail to Stop for Police (Highway Traffic Act); and Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Plate.
He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on July 4.
Obstruct police officer
SOUTH STORMONT — Police say they found a motorist unlawfully behind the wheel after responding to a single-vehicle collision on Dickinson Drive, South Stormont, June 2.
The adult male driver provided “conflicting information pertaining to the incident” to the SD&G OPP officers attending the scene around 9:17 a.m. that morning, according to the detachment. Their investigation subsequently discovered him to be both disqualified and suspended from driving as a result of previous occurrences.
They arrested Brendan Gallivan, 22, of South Dundas Township who is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer; Driving While Disqualified; and Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act).
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 4, 2017.
Sex assault, voyeurism, methamphetamines
SOUTH GLENGARRY — A 30-year-old South Glengarry man is alleged to have victimized his common-law spouse through physical and sexual violence, threats, and the recording and publication of intimate images without her consent.
The accusations arise from a recent SD&G OPP investigation into events stretching back to 2014 at the County Rd. 34 address.
Officers seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine upon arresting the man, according to police.
He’s charged with: Sexual Assault (two counts); Assault – Spousal (five counts); Utter Threats; Voyeurism (three counts) – record victim without her knowledge; Publication of an Intimate Image Without Consent; Possession of a Controlled substance; and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail appearance in Cornwall court. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
