No arrests as car flees early-morning collision site in Chesterville’s Thompson subdivision

CHESTERVILLE — A white Pontiac G6 was reported speeding away after colliding with a hydro pole in Chesterville’s Thompson subdivision, early Sunday morning.

SD&G OPP were called to the scene of the June 11 collision on Thompson Rd. at 4:51 a.m.

An investigation continues into what is being treated as failure to remain at the scene of an accident. No arrests have been made in relation to this incident and any goings-on that morning on Thompson Rd., confirms Const. Joel Doiron.

Man attempts to get away by running into river

SOUTH DUNDAS — SD&G OPP officers responded to a reported June 11 disturbance at a property on Lakeshore Drive on June 11 around 12:30 a.m., where a man attempted to avoid arrest by running into the St. Lawrence River.

An investigation indicated that an adult male was under the influence of alcohol and being belligerent towards others and the officers on scene, according to police. He was apprehended shortly after fleeing into the river.

A 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and is charged with: causing a disturbance (yelling/swearing) and being intoxicated in a public place.

He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on Aug. 1.

U-turn through the ditch on Highway 401

SOUTH DUNDAS — Police say an adult male driver made a U-turn on Highway 401, entering a ditch and damaging the vehicle under his control before fleeing in the opposite direction in a dangerous manner.

The event unfolded June 11 as an SD&G OPP officer conducted speed enforcement on a South Dundas portion of the provincial highway. The officer intercepted the vehicle travelling at high speeds shortly before noon, arresting the driver without incident.

Wendong He, 23, of Toronto, is charged with: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, failure to stop for police, and racing a motor vehicle.

He was released and scheduled to appear  in Morrisburg court on Aug. 1.

Theft of a lawn tractor

INGLESIDE — Overnight on June 9-10,  a yellow 2009 New Holland Zero-Turn lawn tractor with a 20 hp engine and 52-inch deck was stolen from a residence on Kraft Road, Ingleside.

Police continue to investigate.
