A new flag will fly in Morrisburg in honour of Canada’s 150th

MORRISBURG — The Municipality of South Dundas will celebrate Canada 150 with the raising of three flags outside of the municipal offices at 34 Ottawa St., Morrisburg on June 21, at 1:45 p.m..

The municipality received funding through the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaborative funding opportunity between the Government of Canada and Community Foundations of Canada, for the purchase and installation of flag poles for the Municipal Office. The Municipality has invited students from Morrisburg Public School and St. Mary-St. Cecilia to take part in the ceremony by singing O’ Canada, followed by cake and refreshments.

“Our municipal office has been lacking that patriotic touch of flags blowing in the wind, and the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th was the perfect opportunity to correct that,” said Chris Hemond, the Communications and Tourism Coordinator at the municipality. “The opportunity to get the young people in our community involved is one that we’re exciting about, and hope they will enjoy and remember,” he added.

The event is open to all, and the municipality encourages anybody who would like to take part to join the celebration.
