‘Fun in the Sun’ barbecue celebrates North Stormont volunteers

BERWICK — The name of the event actually matched the weather. One hundred and twenty-five people turned out for North Stormont’s ‘Fun in the Sun’ community barbecue last Sat., June 24.

The township-organized event celebrated the community’s volunteers — from those involved in recreation and event organization, to volunteer firefighters. One hundred and twenty-five people turned out for the free barbecue, celebratory cake, and bouncy castles.

The township fire department showed off its newest pumper truck and demonstrated training with CPR dummies.

It’s a cloudy Canada Day but it was all ‘fun in the sun’ a week earlier at Berwick’s community barbecue celebrating the volunteers of North Stormont at McIntosh Memorial Park. The township’s fire department showed off its new pumper truck. Chief Dan Gauvin helps out a couple of youngsters aim a column of water from a firehouse, including his four-year-old daughter, Riley.
