CHESTERVILLE — The weather was overcast and cool, but Chesterville’s Meet Me on Main Street event has so far set the high attendance mark in the Township of North Dundas street festival series this summer.
Officials estimated 550 to 600 people turned out to enjoy the open-air environment on the temporarily closed section of Main Street North. They occupied every chair along tables set up along the street, while enjoying live music by Marleen Fawcett and food by various local concessionaires, including hotdogs and corn served up by the Chesterville & District Rotary Club. And the rain largely held off, with only a slight sprinkle in the final hour that failed to dampen spirits or attendance at the event.
A Canada 150 initiative organized by the township, the fifth and final Meet Me on Main Street event goes ahead Aug. 2 in Winchester.
