WINCHESTER —Somebody out there has dreamt of seeing Fred Penner live since nap-time in kindergarten. But if you snooze, you lose — in the case of his upcoming local performance.
Only five tickets in total remain — exclusively online — for the Old Town Hall show featuring the Canadian children’s music icon as well as opening act Teagan McLaren, according to organizers.
The North Dundas Arts Council (NDAC) secured the Ontario Festival of Small Halls booking for the Winchester venue earlier this year. The Sept. 15 event is among a series of performances involving multiple artists at small halls around rural Eastern Ontario through September.
NDAC “is proud to have earned a coveted Small Halls concert out in Winchester, again this year,” exclaimed the organization’s co-chair, Ann Brady, on the near sell-out for the 2017 edition.”With this [almost] sold-out show, people are telling us there is a big interest, locally, in performance arts events, and we are planning to stage more!”
Brady noted that NDAC plans to celebrate its fifth anniversary in December.
This year’s Penner appearance is a follow-up to Winchester’s Festival of Small Halls debut last year, when the Old Town Hall hosted Vaudeville-inspired musicians Sheesham and Lotus & ‘Son, along with female fiddling duo Box n’ Bow.
Tickets for the current show have proven popular since they went on sale in early June. The remaining five are available at ontariosmallhalls.com or phone 613.402.1425.
Update: The show is now sold out.
