401 re-opens after fatal crash involving two transports and four passenger vehicles

SOUTH GLENGARRY — Highway 401 has re-opened after three lanes were shut down near the Quebec border in the wake of a six-vehicle crash that killed one person yesterday, Aug. 21.

SD&G OPP officers responded just after 2:30 p.m. to the South Glengarry scene near marker 828 in the westbound lanes, where four passenger vehicles and two tractor trailers collided. An individual died at scene and five others were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Names are not being released pending notification of next-of-kin.

Highway 401 westbound was closed at the Quebec border and detoured onto County Rd. 2. Police also closed one eastbound lane.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators and an OPP reconstructionist are assisting the local detachment with the investigation.
