AVONMORE — The 25th annual “Avonmore Oktoberfest” will be held on Saturday September 9 in the Roxborough Agricultural Society Super Structure Building beside North Stormont Place on the Fairgrounds.
The doors will open at 5 p.m. with an authentic German buffet meal from 5:30 to 7:30 pm which is included in your ticket price. Music will be provided by “Edelweiss” from Montreal beginning at 7 p.m.
There are only 300 tickets available. At $25 each, they’re on sale at Scotiabank locations in Casselman, Chesterville, Cornwall and Maxville.
Again this year, Scotiabank is matching the proceeds of tickets sold in their locations with their matching funds program. Scotiabank believes in people, and in being involved in the community.
They are proud of our long tradition of supporting the communities in which they do business and where Scotiabank employees live and work. Scotiabank is assisting the Roxborough Agricultural Society with their Team Scotia Community Program. Organizations eligible under this program in Canada are any community-based, non-profit or registered charitable organization. To qualify for support for your organization under the Team Scotia Community Program, a group of two or more employees of the Scotiabank group must be personally participating in a community fundraising initiative for the organization. Funds raised are matched up to a maximum of $5,000.00 per approved fundraising initiative per year.
Proceeds of the evening will help the Roxborough Agricultural Society, host of the Avonmore Fair with maintenance and other projects on the grounds on Fairview Drive in the village of Avonmore.
The Avonmore Oktoberfest draws people from all over eastern Ontario and western Quebec, and has become a fall tradition in the area, which in the early years was held in a tent, so the September date was chosen to take advance of the warmer weather in the evenings.
A crowd favourite each year is the wide variety of desserts, which are included with the meal, of German potato salad, sausage or German Beef Rouladen and sauerkraut, with a roll and coffee. All included in your ticket price of $25.00.
The bar will have a selection of German beers for your enjoyment. New this year will be the Keg Tapping which will take place at 5:30 p.m., and there will be prizes for the best dressed in your Oktoberfest finest.
There will be plenty of free on site parking available. For more information visit www.avonmorefair.ca, the Avonmore Oktoberfest Facebook page, or by calling 613-933-2793.
