Nominations currently being accepted for Dundas County’s 2017 Good Neighbours Awards

It’s time to nominate Dundas County’s 2017 Good Neighbours

MOUNTAIN—It is time once again to honour those residents who go above and beyond to make life better for their Dundas County neighbours.

Linking Hands has launched its 2017 Dundas County Good Neighbour Award campaign. Nominations are being accepted until midnight on Tuesday, October 31. There is one award available for youth (18 and under) and one for adults (19 and up) in each of North and South Dundas.

“Volunteerism is thriving in Dundas County thanks to the many wonderfully generous and compassionate people we have living in our midst,” Linking Hands coordinator Sandy Casselman said. “People of all ages volunteer in a number of ways, both small and large, from one-time contributions to ongoing volunteerism. In fact, many of our projects at Linking Hands would be impossible if it weren’t for the help of many kind and giving individuals, from our Green Food Box program to our monthly Lunch & Learn and Tea & Talk events and more.”

Linking Hands introduced its Good Neighbour Award several years ago in recognition of the vast number of volunteers working quietly behind the scenes in many sectors throughout Dundas County. It began with a focus on adult nominees. Then, in 2015, a youth component was added. The 2015 youth winners were Mallory Trizisky (South Dundas) and Eric Mikkonen (North Dundas). In 2016, however, there were no youth nominees.

“This year, we would like to see some of our many amazing youth volunteers nominated,” Casselman said. “We know there are many young people throughout Dundas County who contribute to their communities in many ways and we want to show them they’re appreciated for who they are and what they do.”

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Linking Hands website ( or picked up at The House of Lazarus in Mountain, the South Dundas Municipal Centre in Morrisburg, the Township of North Dundas Office in Winchester, or any one of the Dundas County branches of the SD&G County Library. Once completed, as per the instructions, forms can be submitted by email to or by hand to any of the above-mentioned pick up locations.
