Slew of charges for 18-year-old man; tricycle rollover sends two to hospital

18-year-old faces slew of charges after fleeing police

ROCKLAND — Shortly after 2 a.m. on Sept. 22, the Rockland Detachment of the OPP received multiple complaints of a suspicious male trying to steal motor vehicles.

Const. Marc Leblanc was patrolling the area and located a vehicle with a lone occupant parked on Canaan Road in Rockland. After a short verbal exchange with the officer, the individual accelerated away and was involved in a single-vehicle collision moments later. He did not sustain injuries and was arrested.

According to police, Zachary Stuart, 18, of Rockland was charged with: Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer; Obstruct Peace Officer; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000; two counts of Fail to Comply under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA); Trespassing at Night; and Driving While Under Suspension.

The teenaged accused was held and attended L’Orignal court on Sept. 22 to appear in front of a Justice of the Peace.

Cocaine possession

EMBRUN — On the evening of Sept. 22, Const. Louis Babin conducted a patrol in an Embrun parking lot in response to several complaints of illegal activities at the location.

As a result, a male was placed under arrest for Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine.

Russell County OPP report that Kevin Corriveau, aged 21 of Embrun was released on a Promise to Appear in L’Orignal court on Nov. 29.

Drug offences

THE NATION — A resident of The Nation Municipality faces charges related to drug offences and keeping a prohibited weapon.

Russell County OPP say an investigation led to the arrest of John Douglas Dancey, 26, on Sept. 20. According to the detachment, Dancey is charged with:

  • Possession of a substance in Schedule 1 subtance from the purpose of trafficking – other Drugs
  • 2 counts of Produce a Schedule II substance – cannabis/ marijuana;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon -brass knuckles

The accused was released on a promise to appear in L’Orignal court on Nov. 1.

Tricycle rollover sends two to hospital

ROCKLAND — The rollover of a “tricycle vehicle” sent the male driver and his female passenger to hospital shortly before 4 p.m. on Sept. 24.

The man, in his 50’s, was airlifted to medical care, while she was taken to an Ottawa hospital by land ambulance, according to the Rockland OPP detachment, which responded to the “serious” single-vehicle collision on County Rd. 17. Technical collision investigators also attended the scene between Ramage and Rollin roads.

Alcohol-related incidents

RUSSELL — Within the last week, Russell County OPP arrested and charged a male and a female in relation to impaired driving.

The detachment has named the charged individuals as Ashley Ann Cole, 28, of Wendover and Roberto Di Bari, 38, of Beaconsfield, Que. Both accused are headed for their first court appearances in L’Orignal next month.

Drivers charged with excess blood alcohol are subject to an automatic 90 day driver’s license suspension and their vehicles are impounded for seven days; that’s in addition to penalties handed out by the court if found guilty.

363 calls for service, Sept. 17-Sept. 24

EMBRUN — Russell County OPP are investigating several incidents after handling 363 calls for service between Sunday, Sept. 17, to Sunday, Sept. 24. Among these occurrences, OPP responded to ten domestic disputes, seven mischief offences and two impaired related occurrences. As a result of those incidents, eight males and three females were charged with 24 various offences.
