19-year-old speeder from Russell caught at 157 km/h on County Rd. 43

NORTH STORMONT — A 19-year-old Russell man immediately lost his driver’s licence for seven days — as well as the vehicle he was driving for the same period of time — after he was clocked at 157 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on County Rd. 43.

An SD&G OPP officer recorded the violation at 6:13 a.m. on Sept. 27 in North Stormont. Exceeding the limit by more than 50 km/h put the teenaged motorist into the realm of Ontario’s on-the-spot penalties for “stunt driving” — including the week-long seizure of his driver’s permit and vehicle impoundment. Additional fines and consequences are possible if the accused is found guilty in court.
